Stairs to reach the water is a scenic drawing performance by Marcela Rapallo, featuring original music by Pablo La Porta. It was specially created for the immersive hall at the CCK, where it premiered on June 28, 2024.
The performance was adapted to the Dome format and presented at the Bogotá Planetarium Dome as a pre-opening event for the festivals Domo Lleno and RealMix 0.4.
The piece explores the depiction of recurring dream images in which water landscapes are visited across different scales and spatial levels. It is part of a research project on drawing dreams, delving into how dream images arise not only from observing the visible world but also from the multiple worlds we inhabit.
The representation of dream images connects directly to the intention of visual memory representation. It also relates to interpersonal drawing, considering the dream space as a place where individual boundaries become blurred, offering a space to interact with the collective unconscious in dialogue with our unique selves.
The performance features animated drawings in real-time, some created live and others pre-recorded, which are blended live with videos of watercolors and other plastic materials processed digitally. Live drawings are hand-animated in space using the Andiamo software and are mixed in real-time with animated drawings created with Tagtool software, using watercolors, oils, markers, and crayons.
