Diagonal Symphony is an interactive and educational audiovisual concert rooted in scenic drawing. It presents a series of pieces interpreted through digitally projected drawings, animated in real-time and seamlessly interacting with live sounds. During the concert, the language used is explained, offering a “behind-the-scenes” look at the artistic experience. Participants are also invited to join in through collective drawing, a hallmark of Marcela Rapallo’s work, which blurs the lines between performance, participatory activity, and educational proposal, fostering pedagogical practices with children, adults, and intergenerational dialogue.
The Diagonal Symphony performance pays homage to and engages with the early 20th-century work from which it takes its name, created by artist Viking Eggeling. This piece serves as a reference for visual music and contemporary drawing, conceived as a time-based art form, brought to life through live transformation enabled by real-time animation.
Diagonal Symphony is a creation by Marcela Rapallo. It premiered as part of the Escuchar Festival at the Museo Moderno (2023), with guest musician Martín Tarifeño.
